So here's an odd one..

2012 Escape 3.0 v6 AWD... No CELs, absurd temps, anything out of the ordinary except for a period violent vibrating that lasts maybe 10-15 seconds. Happens at idle, happens when driving, happens with the AC on or off. Dropping it into neutral doesn’t impact if. If at idle and vibrating, taking off doesn’t stop it. It even vibrates with green eggs and ham. I’m at a loss for this one.

To add more detail, it’s AWD, vibration is coming from the engine.

This amazing shirt for your time. I think I may have drunkenly bought that recently now that I think about it...

You might check under the black electrical tape and make sure you don’t actually have a CEL.

No electrical tape but there is a chance the CEL bulb vibrated loose

The engine is so crammed into that tiny SUV* I couldn’t begin to answer that.

**Google says the 3.0 has a harmonic balancer. That sounds like a PITA to replace. Good thing we have a fleet manager and some in house mechanics.

I’m thinking it’s a combo of a bad hydraulic motor mount and the AC compressor turning off and on.

On many modern cars, the AC will still be on even when you turn it off.

For example, my Honda Fit lies to me about this. If I set it to defrost, it will turn on the AC even though the button for the AC indicates that it’s off.

Happens just once while driving? Or somewhat frequently? I would probably start with looking at the motor mounts or just juggling things to see if hey are loose. If it happens on consistently on start up have someone else start it while you look at the engine bay.

Its a super fast vibrate. The Stringbean had a cylinder 1 missfire and you could feel it miss, but this is a steady BRRRRRRRR vibrate
